Event: Nike Human Race Launch
Venue: Nu Restaurant, Vancouver
Date: June 2008
Show Designer: Daniel Sabina
Catering: Nu Restaurant
Event Management: Tara @ Vitamin V
Concept: Nike was set to do the official launch of the Human
Race, a multi-city, worldwide 10km run.
ShowMax was called in to transform the parking lot at Nu
Restaurant into a clean, fresh, and interactive event space to host
the participants for Nike.
The day started very early for our team with site prep, cleaning
and laying out over 10,000 square feet of astro turf. It was
amazing how much of a difference the astro turf made in the
transformation.
Neighbors came from all over to express their amazement.
The organizers asked ShowMax to coordinate a full online
registration station with 10 x Mac computers -- and thanks to our
Mac expert, everything ran perfectly.
Additional event elements included a 300' perimeter fence, seven
white tents, two 40' custom plexiglass bars capable of serving 600
guests, a surround sound package to create the perfect sound scape
for both music and announcements, 2 x 50" plasma screens for the
Nike custom content and a live video feed.
Nike was blown away and expressed how the event complemented the
look and feel of their brand.
We're still amazed with how fantastic it looked: creating the
feeling that you were on the water, but still in the middle of the
city.
PS. Yes, we still have the astro turf and it is available
for hire.
